Don’t Fight Human Nature.
I was training a team one time and I made a radical proposal to them. Shorten all your emails by 25-50% and see what happens. They weren’t super excited to try it but they did it anyway.
You know what happened?
They had a huge improvement in open rates and even internally they saw improvements with people actually READING the emails they sent around. You know why?
You can’t fight human nature. Here’s some basic human instincts you just can’t avoid:
→ Customers aren’t that interested in YOU, YOUR COMPANY and certainly your talking points. Make it about them.
→ Humans are always trying to conserve energy by nature for survival. Make it simple for them. Short emails, easy-to-understand language, short presentations.
→ Self-preservation. Customers aren’t going to buy just because they like you. They buy because you’re going to make their life easier.
Don’t fight human nature, and you will be so much more effective. Have you ever found that you were fighting human nature?
