Hey Sales Managers: LESS Pressure. MORE Trust and Inspiration

My son’s middle school coach was awesome. When he missed a shot, the coach didn’t pull him from the game. Instead, he clapped from the sidelines, looked him in the eye, and said:

“Hey! Keep shooting — it’ll fall. You got this.”

You know what happened? The kids grew in confidence. They weren’t afraid to take risks.

Now imagine a different coach yelling a very different message:

“Hey! You gotta do better than that! Get your head in the game!”
Which coach would you rather play for? Which coach will create a varsity contender?

It seems pretty obvious, and yet we still see coaches who don’t inspire. Sometimes even kids on the team yell at each other, and when that happens, everyone wilts like a dying flower. Shoulders drop. They hesitate. They have no fun.

That’s what a toxic work environment looks like. There are lots of managers out there who don’t listen and who constantly pressure for the next sale and the next, and you can watch that team wilt just like the kids on the toxic team.

Be the manager who inspires. Be the manager who coaches, not one who pressures for the next sale and the next. Most importantly - work for someone like that. Your life will be better, and you’ll grow into the best version of yourself.
