Subject Lines Matter.

I was at a parent meeting last night and the Coach brought up communication with parents. He said: "If you're going to send me an email, start a new email because it's too confusing for me."

Everyone chuckled, but the truth is, it was SUCH an important point. As you send emails, you HAVE to do it in a way that makes it as easy as possible on your recipient, especially in a world where everyone is inundated with emails and it's hard to keep up.

When you're sending an email, you're going to get maximum responses if you:

👉 Change the subject line every time. The one exception is if your company likes to sort internal emails by subject line. In that case, it's easier for everyone if the subject line carries through. For everyone else, you're just making it harder to get noticed, especially for prospecting emails.

👉 Keep subject lines short. One or two word subject lines work best, according to research. Try just using your company name when you send emails to customers. Or "Meeting".

👉 Stay away from marketing fluff that triggers the recipient and makes them think it's SPAM. Words like "Exciting".

And don't use the customer's name. And of course, we can't JUST send emails. We have to also pick up the phone and call people. Anyone relying on email alone is doing it wrong, especially in sales.
